We got out on our own.
Up until this point we have has a chaperon... (mom or dad) to help with the language barrier and get to know Boquete better. Dan and I and the kids headed up the to the main road to catch a bus, bus taxi, or taxi whichever came first. Dan flagged us down a bus taxi and we were off to BCP for the Tuesday Morning Market. BCP which means Boquete Community Players. It is a multipurpose event center where they have theatre performances as well as church and an open community market. Locals and expats sell their wares here. It is a great meeting place for expats. We got some coffee that I had purchased on my earlier trip, and some Grubbers Oil, (a treatment for all that ails you especially bug bites!) and Ahna got a pair of mariposa (butterfly) earrings.

My dad met us there, we passed our first test. being able to get around independently. Taxi for 4 was a whopping $2.40 for the 4 of us. We were then of to the grocery for a little produce. Dan took this opportunity to pick up a local beer. Guinness. Yes brewed locally in David<Panama. Tasted different than what we get in the states, but 'good' declared Dan.
Then off to Ruiz coffee to taste the local coffee. Dan, my dad, and I all got coffee, the kids got a milkshake of sorts. Super yummy! and the oatmeal cookies took me back to my grandmothers cookies.
Then off to check out the library. It is new construction and quite modern. We were sad to find out that we could not check out any books, but we could take part in many of the activities that take place at the library. The kids will start a conversational Spanish class that may start on Friday.

Then off to lunch at a bakery called sugar and spice. A place that makes wonderful bread products as well as sandwiches. Dan being the Reuben connoisseur had to try the Reuben and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ahna and I split the hot pressed turkey sandwich and declared that a repeatable experience! A little disappointed in the pena juice however.. the kids declared that it tasted weird and refused to drink it..
All in all an amazing day. We got to meet some new people, practice our Spanish, have people practice their English, and most of all feel comfortable in this new place that we are calling home for the next few months.
